1985-89 FORD MERKUR XR4TI |
1. Unscrew the OEM shift knob. Remove the screws holding the bezel down. There are two below the ebrake handle... |
2. ... and one in front of the shift boot |
3. Lift the bezel up, and remove the two wiring harnesses for the power windows (held on only by friction, pulls right off). You will see the rubber boot is held on around a plastic base. This simply pulls off. Remove the rubber boot. |
4. Install the leather boot by slipping it over the shift lever. Tuck the excess leather around the plastic base. You might have to loosen the base a bit to tuck it. |
5. Reinstall the bezel, make sure to remember to reconnect the electrics. Reinstall the screws and the shift knob. |

CONGRATULATIONS - YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED YOUR NEW LEATHER BOOTS!
Useful tip You have installed a product made out of genuine leather. As you know, to maintain a leather product in good condition, you should take care of it. We suggest occasionally (every 4-6 week for example) applying some leather conditioner/UV protector to keep your leather from drying up in the sun and cracking. |
