1. In order to remove the front section, you must first remove the shift knob (just unscrew it from the shifter shaft - if it's difficult, use vice grips on it after wrapping it with a towel to protect it from scratches). |
2. Press on bottom of trim towards console while pulling up. |
3. This will disengage the shifter surround. Undo the button on the top of the shift knob and remove the whole assembly from the car. Pause to remove the electric connections to lighter and hazard lights switch. Remove the shift boot from the trim piece. Just pull it out of the hooks gently. The wire is elastic to some extent so it will help to push the wire towards the center of the shift knob to disengage the first hook. The rest is easy. |
4. Pulling up gently from the front of the plastic piece that is around the E-brake handle. Pull up from the front only because the back has a tab that you do not want to break. If you have a custom E-Brake handle, you may have to remove, if not, skip this step. |
5. Remove the wire from the bottom of the stock shift boot. Feed it through the fold in the bottom of the leather one. |
6. Install the new shift boot in the trim piece. |
7. Reinstall the trim piece back into the car. Make sure to re-connect the lighter and the hazard lights switch before you push it back into place. |
7. Slide the leather ebrake boot on your handbrake lever. Reinstall the trim piece surrounding the handbrake. Reinstall shift knob. |

Useful tip You have installed a product made out of genuine leather. As you know, to maintain a leather product in good condition, you should take care of it. We suggest occasionally (every 4-6 week for example) applying some leather conditioner/UV protector to keep your leather from drying up in the sun and cracking. |
